Rainer Horneck, the first chief soloist and conductor of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, was born in Austria in 1961. He began to learn violin at the age of 7. He joined Vienna Staatsoper and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 1981 and served as the first violinist. In 1984, he was promoted to be the chief violinist of Vienna National Opera House. In 1992, he was promoted to be the chief violinist of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
