Restoration Intangible Cultural Heritage Experiential Studio is going to host
an event on Suzhou Fan making technique at Suzhou ICH Shop this Saturday (June

Suzhou Fan, falling into three types: folding fan, sandalwood fan and silk
palace fan, is also known as Ya Shan (elegant fan). With its place of origin in
Suzhou, sandalwood fan is made of sandalwood and gives off a natural scent. It
has gained in popularity among people at home and abroad since early 20th
century. The making technique of Suzhou Fan was included into China’s
National-level Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2006.
As the nation’s key intangible cultural heritage protection unit, Suzhou Ruyi
Sandalwood Fan Co., Ltd. enjoys a high reputation for its making of high-quality
exquisite and artistic fans.
Chen Qin, provincial-level representative inheritor of intangible cultural
heritage, will be invited to introduce the making technique of Suzhou Fan.
Participants from home and abroad will learn to make the fan and experience the
charm of Suzhou Fan.
Those who are unable to attend the event can watch it live-streamed through
