Restoration Intangible Cultural Heritage Experiential Studio is going to host
an event on Suzhou Embroidery at Suzhou ICH Shop Dongbei Street Branch this
Saturday (June 26).
Suzhou Embroidery, one of the four most famous embroideries in China,
originated in Suzhou and has a history of more than 2,500 years. Artists
normally use one threaded needle to work on different patterns on different
fabrics.
Among others, “double-sided embroidery” is the best known one and now it has
evolved into double-sided embroidery with different colors, patterns and needle
stitches. Suzhou Embroidery was included in the national-level intangible
cultural heritage list (first batch) in May, 2006.
As the municipal-level representative inheritor of Suzhou Embroidery and
hired APEC embroiderer, Fu Xianghong has been committed to embroidery for more
than 40 years. She founded her own brand “Xianghong Embroidery Studio” at the
age of forty.
Fu Xianghong will be invited to introduce the origin, development and
stitches of Suzhou Embroidery. Participants can expect to make their own Suzhou
embroidery sachet.
You can make different kinds of sachets during the session
Those who are unable to attend the event can watch it live-streamed through
Douyin account @FeiyibanFeiyi. Currently, Xianghong Embroidery Studio is
exhibiting and selling its products at Suzhou ICH Shop for a week. Don’t miss
out!
